If you’re a serious strength athlete, you could be leaving pounds on the platform that should be on your total by improving your skills in training, technique, and nutrition.
If you’re a coach or personal trainer, you owe it to your clients to provide the highest quality training and teaching that you can – and doing so is rewarded with improved retention and better business.
In both cases, we have a knowledge problem. You don’t know what you don’t know. You can’t use the information you don’t have. You can’t find out about the information if you don’t know you need it.
But by coming to the RTS Seminar, taught by some of the top coaches in powerlifting, a single weekend will provide more knowledge and skill than you’d likely get in years of self-research. Besides, who wouldn’t love coming to Boca Raton, Florida after a long winter?
Lessons will be taught by top coaches (full schedule and bio below). Then you’ll get the opportunity to train side-by-side with these coaches to put knowledge into practice. Check out some of these comments about previous RTS Seminars:
“Great seminar! One of the best I've attended. The material was clearly and thoroughly presented, well-suited for intermediate to advanced lifters, and everyone on the RTS team was very friendly and helpful. I learned a lot this weekend.” – Eric Anderson
“All of the presenters were incredibly generous people - generous with their time and what they "invested" into the coaching sessions, they were not just passive observers. This is what made the seminar valuable to me over and above the information contained in the presentations.” – Joanna
“All I can really say is I am so glad I came. I learned so much for a guy who has been doing this for so long. I’m looking forward to putting this all together on the platform at my next meet. I once again want to thank Mike, Suzanne, Matt and the rest of the instructors. It was well worth it to the Gibson brothers. Thank you!!” – Troy Gibson
“It’s great to see the people that are delivering the information truly having fun with the content… and with each other. It adds to the atmosphere of the learning experience and the culture.
The 20hrs of driving to attend was well worth it. Very glad that I was able to attend.
The combined knowledge and experience in the room is amazing!” – Matt O
“Continue to put out excellent lecture topics such as those presented at this seminar. I was expecting to get most of my knowledge under the bar this weekend. While I certainly did learn a lot in the rack, the knowledge I gained during the lectures far exceeded my expectations.” – Greg Conover

Advanced RTS Techniques by Mike Tuchscherer: This will cover some advanced techniques that are useful in measuring and managing fatigue and volume in lifters. In addition, several non-standard training techniques (and their usefulness) will be discussed.
Winning Mental Approach by Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary: Everyone says that mental preparation is crucial for athletes, but what have you done to prepare lately? Twenty four (24!) time national champion and three time world champion Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary will share with you her secrets of mental preparation. This will be a detailed and practical presentation on how you can improve your mental game to make yourself a better lifter!
Integrating Periodization Methods by Dr. Michael Zourdos: Dr. Zourdos has become well known in strength training circles for popularizing “DUP” or Daily Undulating Periodization. In this presentation, Dr. Zourdos will outline a more integrated approach on how DUP fits in the larger periodization framework as well as how to effectively use various periodization methods over the course of the training cycle.
SSPT Deadlift Training by Matt Gary: “The SSPT Deadlift Table” has become well known among some powerlifting circles. In this presentation, Matt will present how SSPT lifters train the deadlift, how this method came about, and ways to implement it into your training and that of your athletes.
Nutrition Fundamentals by Ben Esgro: One of the most common questions from beginners and intermediate lifters is about nutrition and how that relates to training. Ben Esgro is one of the most qualified people who can weigh in on such a question. In this presentation, you will learn what kinds of nutritional things really are important for a strength athlete and what things don't really matter. This is quality information based on science and practical understanding!
Annual and Multi Year Planning by Mike Tuchscherer: Lifters usually have no trouble thinking about training in terms of the week or even the training cycle – which can be several months. But there can be problems that arise when considering training over a year or multiple years. In this presentation, Mike will deliver his solutions to annual planning as well as training over the course of many years. This gives lifters a roadmap for progression over the course of a career.
Novel Science in Auto-Regulation by Dr. Michael Zourdos: In this presentation, Dr. Zourdos will discuss new research that has been done in the realm of auto-regulation, including which methods have been tested, which have shown to be effective, as well as theories as to why. This is one presentation not to be missed.
Maximizing Game-Day Performance by Matt Gary: Competing is a skill all its own. Skills need to be trained. Matt will discuss his multi-faceted approach to maximizing performance from a mental, physical, and technological approach. Matt is one of the best platform coaches in the world – when he speaks on maximizing contest performance, top lifters listen!
Nutrition Strategies for Iron Sports by Ben Esgro: Interested in gaining muscle? Interested in losing fat? Chances are good that one of those fits your needs. And Ben Esgro will teach you what you need to know to reach your goal. Building on his earlier presentation, this session will let Ben get deeper into his subject matter and more practical when it comes to outlining just what strategies work best and which ones are best left for your competition.
Networking: As much as all of our speakers love teaching and helping you succeed, there’s no way we can cover everything in a single weekend. So specific time is designated for networking with other attendees as well as the speakers. This will make sure that your questions get answered and your topics get addressed. Plus it helps you make connections with other lifters that can prove to be very important later.
Mike Tuchscherer is the owner and founder of Reactive Training Systems as well as a current world class competitive Powerlifter. Mike himself has earned 5 medals at IPF world championships (2 bronze, 2 silver, 1 gold) and in 2009 became the first male from USA Powerlifting to win a gold medal at the World Games. In addition, he has personally coached over a dozen IPF world-level competitors, and also many intermediate level lifters who simply want to continue building strength in the midst of a busy life. This range gives Mike unique insight on getting to the core of building strength. Additionally, Mike is the author of the Reactive Training Manual, which popularized RPE based training with its easy-to-use charts.
Ben Esgro, MS, RD, LDN, CSCS, CISSN, is the owner of De Novo Nutrition, a dietary supplement manufacturer. Mr. Esgro also works as a nutrition and training consultant. Sioux-z Hartwig-Gary is a 23 Time National Champion and 4 Time World Champion (One open, three Masters). She currently holds five world records in the 52 kg class: Open and Masters raw squat 150 kg, Master geared squat 182.5 kg, Masters raw total of 373.5 kg, and Master geared total 442.5 kg. In 2011 Sioux-z was inducted into the USAPL Women’s Hall of Fame. She has served as assistant coach on several international teams, is a IPF Cat II referee and serves as an Athlete Rep and is a member of the USAPL and IPF Women’s Committees. She and her husband Matt own Supreme Sports Performance & Training, Inc. (SSPT) in Rockville, MD, which is one of the nation’s premier training facilities for powerlifters and weightlifters.
There are three training sessions planned during the course of the seminar. At the beginning of the seminar, you’ll be assigned to a group (based on your preference if possible). Your group will be paired with a coach who will take you through a specially designed training session. The session may be to teach you general technique or to teach some other training concept – each coach will present their specialty. In some cases, the coach may also train alongside you. But in any event it will be actual training as well as learning under the bar. With each session, you’ll train with a different coach in order to maximize your exposure to as many techniques and methods as possible.
